Looking at these gowns, it’s easy to see that Spain and Latin America influenced Ralph’s latest collection.
Red and black −and white and turquoise and amethyst− made repeat appearances.
My top 3:
The strands of beads circling the wearer’s upper arms add just the right amount of interest.
I think this would look amazing on Kerry Washington.
I could see Helen Mirren in this. Don’t mind me. Just playing celebrity stylist.
The Costume Institute Gala’s red carpet arrivals were livestreamed for the very first time, making my Monday evening in rainy Columbus a little more entertaining.
I laughed. I cried. I screamed when I saw Sarah Jessica Parker. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Oh, just you wait.
January Jones in Atelier Versace
Jessica Paré in L’Wren Scott
Both the former and current Mrs. Draper looked especially lovely, no?
Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren
I melted for this gown when I saw it come down the runway, but, I have to say, it looks even better on Camilla. Perfection from head to toe.
Ivanka Trump in Peter Pilotto
Between the print and the neckline, that dress has a lot going on, but Ivanka pulls it off nicely. (Being tall and statueque certainly helps.) I’m digging the new bangs, too.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino.
I like SJP, I really do. But this gown? Oh. Hell. No.
Tom + Lorenzo tweeted:
Sarah Jessica Parker is serving up Laura Ingalls Wilder realness in Valentino.
Hahahahaha! So true!
The clunky bracelets and three-toned hair (To think she endorses hair dye…) aren’t doing her any favors either, poor thing.
But I think that’s about to change. Well, the “rainy days” part, anyway. (Side note: does anyone else instantly hear that Carpenters song in their head when it’s rainy and Monday? I can’t be the only one.)
For two years now, I’ve relied on this pair of gold Stuart Weitzman flats during wet weather, but, as my fellow Columbus, Ohio residents can tell you, we’ve had quite a rainy winter ‘round here.
Bottom line: my cute little jellies just weren’t cutting it.
So I began searching for suitable boots. Hunter wellies are practically a rainy day staple among style-conscious women− and for good reason. They come in a variety of colors, short or tall, laces or no laces.
And after my friend Jac wrote about these beauties (That color is amazing, right?), I seriously considered buying a pair. Then I found some snazzy Tommy Hilfiger wellies, but they sold out in my size before I could snag them. Boo.
This week, I found these. Aren’t they adorable?!
Ralph Lauren, you’ve saved the day yet again. And that buffalo check? LUV. I have a red and black buffalo check J.Crew scarf that matches these to a T, actually. (I doubt I’ll wear them together, though− too matchy-matchy.)
OK, the main reason I wrote this post was to give my readers looking for inexpensive wellies −that aren’t solid colors− a heads up. (Gentlemen, they’d make great gifts. Just sayin’.) Mine were less than $60 with tax and shipping!
Your holiday shopping days are limited, folks. Get to it!
