Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street. Fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. ~Coco Chanel
I have fallen hard for this Carolina Herrera gown.
New York Fashion Week: Spring 2012 and the 2011 Emmy Awards were held back-to-back, and I’m experiencing digital image overload. But I like it. So much to see!
Since fashion week preceded the Emmys, it might seem odd to offer up my my red carpet critique first but, frankly, the former requires less thought. So without further ado, my top 3 picks for best and worst dressed ladies at the Emmys.
Christine Baranski in Zac Posen
This could have looked a tad matronly on a younger woman, but on 59-year-old Baranski it looks chic and sophisticated. Midnight blue is a great color for her and the accessories are pitch perfect.
Cobie Smulders in Alberta Ferretti
This azure gown certainly set Smulders apart, as the red carpet was an endless parade of crimson colored dresses. She looks beautiful.
Martha Plimpton in Zac Posen
This gown fits her like a glove. A+
Kate Winslet in Elie Saab
Not a bad dress, but it’s way too tight. Just look at the way it’s pulling at the hips and bust.
Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera
Actually, all three of my worst dressed picks are wearing gowns that don’t fit properly. Fabulous color, weird things happening in the bodice.
Diana Agron in Roksanda Ilincic
Again, a fabulous color and a poor fit in the bodice. Plus, the design is too mature for her.
