I luv Isaac Mizrahi. LUV. The man is a creative genius.
Not only is he an award-winning fashion designer and, arguably, the godfather of diffusion lines for big box retailers and fast fashion chains, he has also been the subject of a documentary, hosted two TV talk shows and a reality fashion show, starred in an off-Broadway one-man show, created a series of comic books, designed costumes for three Broadway revivals, co-wrote a historic documentary for PBS, and is rumored to be developing a one-hour scripted project for the CW.
Oh, and he recently sold his business to Xcel Brands for $31.5 million.
What I really adore about Isaac, though, is his personality. He is frank, funny, and always dishing out fabulous advice. Which brings me to the video above.
In it he tells women to “stay away from face work.” Which is so timely because… I noticed the first signs of aging as I looked at my face in the mirror last night, y’all. I now have a few fine lines under my eyes.
I mean, I’m not surprised. I will be 30 in December. But I’m a little sad. (However, the day the “bloom has fallen off the rose,” so to speak, I might sob uncontrollably. Nothing terrifies me quite like those words.)
Nonetheless, I’m not going to get Botox injections or begin planning an eye lift. I’m with Isaac. There’s no better way to look older than you are than by having work done.
Nine times out of 10, it doesn’t look natural at all and instead of looking good for your age, you look like an old person trying to appear young.
